Created by Chris & Roberta Hanley, the film producers turned visionary architects have created a dramatic castle-like addition to the Shela skyline with Honeymoon House. This stunning home combines sleek, contemporary lines and curves with beautiful bespoke Swahili finishes and furnishings to create the ultimate Lamu escape. The Hanleys have kept sustainability at the core of their ethos in designing their African home and guests will recognise and appreciate their fundamental understanding of their wider environment. The house sleeps up to 10 guests over 5 bedrooms including the self-contained beach and garden suites, all of which have en suite bathrooms. There is a further indoor/outdoor bedroom (see pictures 17 and 18) which can be set up for 2 further guests – there is a shower room in the room adjacent to the bed. The house team are exceptional and guests will want for nothing during their stay. ‘Casa’ the house dhow adds another dimension to your stay at Honeymoon House allowing guests to swim amongst the mangroves, explore the coast and immerse themselves in sundowner experiences. Whilst completely private, the house is just a 5 minute walk from Peponi hotel and from the vibrancy of Shela village. A stay at Honeymoon House captures all the joy and beauty of a Lamu holiday. We cannot recommend it enough.
