Alkyona

Alkyona is a stylish, contemporary villa just moments from the beach on the south coast of Paros. On a quiet part of the island close to the charming seaside village of Aliki the villa is just steps away from a small beach. Blending the island’s architectural vernacular and the principles of contemporary minimalism, Alkyona is constructed out of simple blocks oriented toward the seascape. Generous outdoor areas are defined by manicured patches of greenery and free-standing walls that are strategically placed to protect the outdoor areas from the wind while leaving spectacular sea-vistas intact. Areas for relaxing and dining make the most of the setting and the wonderful swimming pool mean that guests will spend as much time as possible outside. The structure’s clean, elegant lines and less-is-more philosophy are echoed by the interiors. The subtle palette, mind-calming swaths of empty space and bare walls create a neutral backdrop for the soothing blue hues of the sea and sky that come in through the windows. The living area is airy and bright with huge glass doors that make it feel like an extension of the terrace. The materials are natural to complement the neutral palette and the whole effect is one of tranquility. Decoration is minimal with island-inspired references that are beautifully blended with contemporary details. The bedrooms are monochromatic with all-white palettes and large openings that convey the feeling of being outside even when in bed. To allow more privacy, the residence consists of a main house and a two-bedroom guest house.
