Near Lia, one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, Krokus is on a quieter part of the island and yet still close enough to Chora town with its bars, restaurants and artisan shops. The villa, perched on a slope that affords spectacular vistas of the Aegean, has the chilled vibe of a Mexican hacienda. To integrate the house into its surroundings, the architect has left rocks exposed to give the terraces an organic feel and echo the juxtaposition of the soothing blue sea and the arid landscape. The outdoor areas, all designed to make the most of the views, are fitted with lounge and dining spots and a swimming pool that overlooks the seascape. Interiors are perfectly attuned to island living. Bright, airy spaces with large openings connect indoor and outdoor and invite the sea-views in. The natural materials -unfinished wood, concrete- and large whitewashed surfaces communicate the raw beauty of the landscape to the interior. White and blue tones create and elegant and relaxing mood throughout. The décor is island-chic with charming rustic touches, bringing a fresh summer look that makes the rooms feel warm and welcoming.
